ALT-ARCHITECTURE

29/06/2016 - 02/10/2016

CaixaForum Barcelona

Architecture and urbanism are viewed through the prism of art in the final show in the Comisart: New Perspectives on the "la Caixa" Collection cycle, which offers emerging curators the opportunity to mount an exhibition of their own.

Another kind of architecture is possible. This exhibition looks at art projects that question hegemonic practices in architecture and urbanism by putting forward thought-provoking critiques or conjuring up fresh perspectives. Young curators Érika Goyarrola and Xurxo Ínsua invite spectators to reconsider the dominant models of accessing housing and shared urban resources.

alt-architecture brings together 18 pieces by 12 artists: Rachel Whiteread, Daniel Chust Peters, Daniel Buren, Fernanda Fragateiro, Lara Almarcegui, Cao Guimarães and Pello Irazu, from the "la Caixa" Collection of Contemporary Art; Carlos Bunga, Jordi Colomer and Gordon Matta-Clark, from the MACBA Collection; and one work each by Michel Le Belhomme and Fod, on loan from the artists themselves.
