Three Narratives. Memory

10/03/2015 - 14/06/2015

CAIXAFORUM BARCELONA

Three Narratives. Memory is the second exhibition in the series Three Narratives. Participation, Memory and Language, curated by Enrique Juncosa.

Contemporary art has become something that cannot be reduced to a single explanatory narrative. It embraces a wide range of simultaneous styles and no blanket narrative can encapsulate the many different artistic practices in use today.

This exhibition includes works from the "la Caixa" Collection of Contemporary Art by the artists Miroslaw Balka, Rachel Whiteread, Susana Solano, Carmen Calvo, Christian Boltanski, Robert Gober, Guillermo Kuitca, Juan Muñoz and Doris Salcedo.

These pieces were selected more for their power to trigger interpretations inspired by the artist's and the spectator's memory than as artistic objects in themselves, although their materiality can still be felt. Most of the works explore subjects such as illness, social and political violence and various issues linked to identity.
