In this series Aballí takes movie synopses published in newspaper film listings to create fictional pieces exploring the narrative aspect to filmmaking. The texts are juxtaposed with photographs of the physical spaces where movies are created—from film sets to screening rooms—with all the usual filmmaking equipment. One by one, the 24 panels in the series describe the process of making a movie from start to finish. Devoid of actors, directors, titles and dates, the magic of filmmaking is stripped away as the artist focuses the spotlight on the plot. Spectators are left intrigued: they are shown the before and after but don’t get to see the movie on screen. They themselves have to imagine the films, explore what they have to say and perhaps weave a fictional tale out of them.
