The Rosado brothers lead us into a strange world bursting with drama, ambiguity and fantasy. With enigmatic sleight of hand, they truncate and transform photographs of innocuous spaces into unsettling, dreamlike fictions. The works in the «Scratches» series are created by covering the piece in layers of pigment or Indian ink and then scratching away the paint to explore the paradoxes thrown up when artifice is portrayed as reality. Spaces flooded with water, boats sailing across the floor and ceilings lit by fluorescent strips form spectacular scenes that fire our imagination and invite us to dream.
